IsleStartup Accelerator 2012
"Form a team, build a product - launch a company" is the aim of the event, and what better way to harness the potential of the Isle of Man than by organising a startup event?
Some of you will already know what a startup weekend consists of, for those who don't, it's a meeting of various minds who are keen to develop new disruptive businesses for the world we live in, within a short time frame.
There is no particular theme to this startup weekend, apart from the general aim to create businesses out of the developed ideas.
You should approach the weekend with a brief idea that you will pitch to the room for 60 seconds. Those pitches that garner the most interest from those attending will create teams to work upon the idea.

- Event Location: The Empress Hotel, Douglas, Isle of Man

- Event Focus: Build any market disruptive product or business
The IsleStartup Accelerator would like to see island based teams build the next generation of products or services that we will use in our everyday lives.
The winning team will have displayed the most innovative approach to a their idea and has the potential to grow into a self-sustaining enterprise. Judging will be conducted via a carefully selected panel of business leaders from across various industries on the island.
The event starts Friday 16th November at 7pm and continues through Saturday 17th November with development completing at 5pm. Teams present their developments at 5:30pm, at 6pm judges will deliberate over the presentations with a winner announced around 6.15pm. Food and drink will be provided throughout the event, so come and collaborate together (even if you don't have an idea to develop).
The winning team will receive their first year incorporation costs covered by our sponsor, Boston Group. They will also benefit from 3 years of free business banking, kindly provided by the Isle of Man Bank.
We are welcoming potential investors and members of the press to attend the presentation from 5:15pm onwards on the Saturday. There will be an opportunity to network with attendees/investors after the event. For further information about this please email team@islestartup.com
Make sure you register early, as there is a limited capacity at the venue. Don't forget to tell your friends and colleagues about the event and encourage them to join you.
This is a totally non-profit event and all attendees must positively contribute to their respective teams. Please refer to the event rules on the website.
